Double Barrel Names
I was speaking to a colleague today at lunch, and I enquired about his surname which is double barrelled. He explained to me that he was recently married and he and his wife has decided to join their two names to form this double barreled name?
I had to admit I was slightly amused, and said why break hundreds of years of tradition and loose your fathers name. He did seem quite offended and said it was only a name. I didn’t continue with the line of conversation but did think to myself…. “If it was only a name why would his wife insist on not loosing hers”.
Another colleague pointed out that if his children, if he had any, continued with this then we would end up with ridicously long surnames.
This is exactly the sort of thing that makes me laugh but its quite worrying how some guys are so whipped by their woman. Girl Power hey?!? Pitiful fool!

It’s very annoying.. of course many woman giving birth to children out of marriage then also insist on having the children with double-barrel names.
I find it puzzling why these woman insist on this even though they may be in a relationship or even living with the father. I’ve yet to hear one coherent or reasonable argument why this tradition should be broken. After all, where did the woman get their surname from?
I have however heard of one instance of a lady friend of mine who has 3 children by 2 different guys but has given her children her name so they don’t have different surnames when they go to school?
Men who give up their surname in marriage have no backbone in my opinion.
It’s the sign of an emasculated male !
